Our smoothie recipe for today is very simple yet very nutritious. The two main ingredients banana and blueberries are labeled as superfood, they are low calories and incredibly good food for you.

Why? Here is the reason why...

Blueberries are sweet and wildly popular, and it has proven health benefits, some of these are :  (1) it is a low calorie but high in nutrients fruit, it contains fiber, vitamin c, vitamin k, manganese, etc., (2) blueberries are the king of antioxidant foods, it protects your body from free radicals, (3) several studies suggest that blueberries and blueberry juice reduce DNA damage, which is a leading driver of aging and cancer, (4) the anti-oxidants in blueberries have shown to reduce a predominant risk factor for health disease by preventing oxidative damage to "bad" LDL cholesterol, (5) regular blueberry intake is tied to lower blood pressure in numerous studies (6) some evidence indicates that eating fruits rich in anthocyanins - such as blueberries - is associated with a reduced risk of heart attacks, (7) the oxidants in blueberries seem to benefit your brain by aiding brain function and delaying mental decline, (8) several studies demonstrate that blueberries have anti-diabetes effects, improving insulin sensitivity and lowering blood sugar levels, (9) like cranberries, blueberries contain substances that can prevent certain bacteria from binding to the wall of your bladder, which may help prevent UTIs, and  (10) one study suggests that blueberries may aid muscles recovery after strenuous exercise, though more research is needed. The bottom line is blueberries are incredibly healthy and nutritious.[32]

Prep time: 5 mins

  • 1 medium banana - can be frozen
  • 1 tsp flax seeds
  • 3/4 frozen blue berries
  • 250 ml organic coconut milk or any of your choice
  • 1 tbsp almond or peanut butter

  1. Put everything in a blender and blend until desired texture is reached. 
  2. Pour the mixture in the serving glass and ENJOY!
Tips: If you want a colder smoothy, you can add crushed ice or freeze the banana and blueberry the night before.
