Good day everyone! In this blog we are going to make a smooth yummy avocado ice candy. Ice candy is popular in Philippines especially during summer season when the sun is sizzling hot. It helps to cool you down during hot days, that is why everyone loves to have them in their mouth.

For anyone who doesn't know what is ice candy, it is basically a type of a frozen refreshment like Popsicle or pop ice. Only that ice candy uses an elongated plastic wrapper as shown on the thumbnail above to form it. Almost any kind of fruit can be use to make the ice candy. You can also use milk as your base or sometimes others like to make a chocolate ice candies.

In this recipe, I will give you a tip on how to make your ice candy feel smoother when it lingers to your mouth. Making this recipe is as simple as 1, 2, 3. So make sure you got all your ingredients and tools needed.

INGREDIENTS:

Measurements would depend on how many you gonna make.
  • Avocado
  • Fresh milk
  • Sugar
  • Condense milk
  • Corn starch
  • Water

TOOLS:
  • Ice candy plastic wrapper
  • Blender
  • Knife
  • Spoons
  • Funnel
  • Pan
  • Bowl
  • Chopping Board


DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO MAKE:
  1. Cut the avocado into half and scrape the meat and put it in the blender. 
  2. Once you have achieve the desired amount of avocado. Add the fresh milk just enough to make your mixture into a pasty consistency. Set aside after.
  3. In a pan, at a room temperature add fresh milk depending on the amount you want to make. My tip is to add the minimum amount that you want and if you think you want to add more you can do it later.
  4. Add fair amount of water and corn starch. Please bare in mind that corn starch will make you mixture become sticky when heated, so I would advice not to put a lot at the beginning. Just probably put 2 to 3 tablespoon at first and if needed more you can top up later. 
  5. Now turn on your stove to a medium heat. Keep stirring while the mixture is heated to prevent the corn starch from settling at the bottom of the pan and become lumpy. If you notice any lump try to press them against the pan to liquefy it. Once the mixture turned to watery smooth consistency remove it from stove and set aside to cool down.
  6. After cooling down, add condense milk to the cooked mixture. As always add this little by little and taste if it is ok with you.
  7. When you achieved the right taste, add the blended avocado. Stir thoroughly to blend all the ingredients. 
  8. For the final touch, taste it again and adjust it according to taste. You can add more milk, sugar or condense milk if needed.
  9. Lastly, using the funnel we need to pack the mixture with ice candy wrapper. Remove the air and tie the end part of the wrapper tightly and neatly so that it will have a round shape.
  10. Then you have to put it in the freezer for at least 2 - 4 hrs before it fully hardened.
  11. And enjoy your cool yummy soft smooth avocado ice candy!
